Staff Helps School Affected by Wild Fires
SunCorp’s Employee Activity Committee recently coordinated a company event collecting school supplies for a Colorado elementary school affected by the recent wild fires. Chipeta Elementary School and the nearby Colorado Springs neighborhood had significant smoke damage and several destroyed homes due to the fires.
“The school is located less than a block away from where homes were completely destroyed” said Bonnie Ginther who personally delivered the supplies along with Monica Culver, both Activity Committee members. “The school’s principal and head-secretary were very appreciative of our donations and told us that many families are now struggling financially. They said every donation, no matter how big or small, will help the school and kids tremendously,” according to Bonnie.
Chipeta has established a monetary school fund that will be used to buy coats this winter for the students who won’t have them due to the fires. SunCorp’s employees collected approximately $1,500 of supplies, including backpacks, gift cards and monetary donations.
